Austrian citizenship

1. Employment and professional integration into the Austrian society (residence period not less than 10 years);
2. Well-off foreign nationals who have real estate in Austria, as well as a stable, high, passive income outside of the Austria (residence period not less than 10 years);
3. Birth right. Minor children have the right for obtaining Austrian citizenship automatically, regardless of place of residence and duration of stay in the country;
4. A child born to foreign nationals does not automatically become a citizen, however the period for obtaining citizenship by parents is reduced to 4-6 years. The child also becomes an Austrian citizen after the parents obtain their citizenship;
5. Investors who have made considerable investments in the Austrian economy (from € 10 000 000) and have created jobs that export goods to the international market are eligible to receive Austrian citizenship almost immediately, within a couple of months;
6. Outstanding personalities, artists, athletes, discoverers, IT innovators, etc. also have the right to obtain citizenship almost immediately (each case is considered on an individual basis);
7. Refugees who have confirmed their status and legally residing in Austria have the right to apply for citizenship (considered on an individual basis).

Each case is considered separately by the immigration authorities; therefore, the list of required documents is adaptable and depends on the situation of the applicant.

1. application for citizenship acquiring;
2. Photo of the applicant;
3. Detailed autobiography;
4. Birth certificate;
5. The certificate of marriage, divorce, death of a spouse, change of name (if any);
6. Documents confirming the legal residence in Austria;
7. Diploma of higher education obtained at home country or in Austria;
8. A certificate of criminal records and prosecution (for the last 20 years)
9. Medical insurance;
10. Certificate of German language proficiency with the level required by the law;
11. A document confirming the availability of dwelling (purchased or leased).

Documents are submitted in German, certified by an Austrian specialist, in their original form and with an Apostille seal.
