Permanent residence in Denmark

• An alien should be over 18 years of age;
• An alien should reside in Denmark on the grounds or residence permit and do not violate the requirements;
• An alien should reside in Denmark for the minimum period of 6 years (under certain conditions the period of stay may be curtailed to 4 years);
• An alien should have no criminal record;
• An alien should have no tax arrears and credit debts;
• An alien should have no material support from the state within the last 3 years;
• An alien should sign an integration agreement;
• An alien should successfully pass the Danish proficiency test (Prøve i Dansk) and achieve the 2 level of proficiency or higher;
• An alien should be officially employed in Denmark for the last 2,5 years;
• An alien should be officially employed at the moment of application for permanent residence.

• Pass an integration exam;
• Be officially employed within the last 4 years;
• Have a salary of kr270 000 (€10 500) within the last 2 years;
• Pass Danish language test (Prøve i Dansk) with the level of proficiency that corresponds to the 3 and higher.

For permanent residence it is mandatory to fulfill 2 of 4 additional requirements.

In fulfilling 2 of 4 requirements the period of mandatory residence is 6 years.

In fulfilling 4 of 4 requirements the period of mandatory residence is 4 years.

Foreign nationals of retirement age are exempted from requirements related to employment and salary and are required to fulfill only 1 of 4 additional conditions.
