Permanent residence in Spain

Permanent residence permit is a document that allows its holder to reside in Spain for an unlimited period of time without any required additional documents and entitles a foreign national with all the same rights that Spanish citizens have, except the right to vote and be elected, to serve the armed forces and police and to hold public office.

Permanent residence in Spain is issued for a 5-year period with possible extensions for the same period.  The application for extension must be submitted not later than 30 days before permanent residence permit expiry date.  In case of absence of the application for extension the permanent residence permit will be cancelled upon 3 months period.
