There are few ways for Dutch passport obtaining:
Dutch citizenship acquiring is regulated by the amended Act of 1984.
Birth right
- Children with Dutch parents obtain the citizenship of the country automatically;
- Adopted children with Dutch parents obtain the citizenship of the country automatically;
- Children born to an unidentified mother and father could acquire Dutch nationality if they were born inside the country;
- Children whose father of mother is a Dutch national;
- Children born out of wedlock are entitled to Dutch nationality if they are acknowledged by the father (Dutch national) before the birth or until the age of 7;
- Children born to residents of the Netherlands, provided that the grandparents are citizens of the country.
Naturalization:
Foreign national can obtain the citizenship under the following conditions:
- Marriage with the Dutch national for the minimum period of 3 years;
- Civil marriage with the Dutch national for the minimum period of 3 years;
- 3 years of education within the Dutch university and 2 years of employment in the country;
- 3 years of official employment in the country and 2 years of residence;
- 3 years of education within the Dutch university and 2 years of marriage with Dutch national;
- Operating the profitable business inside the country for the minimum period of 5 years;
- Make sufficient investments in the economy of the country.
Main requirements for foreign national who wishes to obtain Dutch citizenship:
- Be at the age of majority;
- Have the permanent residence status;
- Reside without interruptions in the Netherlands for the minimum period of 5 years (with the exceptions of marriages);
- Be socially integrated in Dutch culture;
- Be fluent in Dutch;
- Have no criminal record and convictions for administrative offenses (fines of more than € 450) within the last 4 years;
- Have a stable legal income of no less than € 1500 per month;
Documents required for permanent residence in the Netherlands:
- International passport;
- Valid temporary or permanent residence permit;
- Birth certificate translated into Dutch;
- Certificate of successful completion of integration course;
- Document confirming cohabitation with Dutch national for a minimum period of 3 years (if any).
Foreign national is required to renounce his or her homeland citizenship except for the cases provided by the Dutch law.
